the Right to Free Speech. Hurray for "We the People", the U.S. Constitution and the First Amendment.
I am always for the individual rights and freedoms granted by the U.S. Constitution. The laws of today are in place where corporations are treated as individual entities. One can argue if this sound constitutional law or not but, as of today that is where we are in history. No one individual or group of individuals would risk life, limb and everything they own to pursue building a company to stand at risk of being completely wiped out with a change in the wind. That is the sound reasoning to allow for risk which supports the world economy.
I was not sure what to make of the ruling until having read the thinking behind it. I am now in complete favor of the ruling. What convinced me a constitutionally correct decision had been made was the following statement from Justice Kennedy;
"When government seeks to use its full power, including the criminal law, to command where a person may get his or her information or what distrusted source he or she may not hear, it uses censorship to control thought, this is unlawful. The First Amendment confirms the freedom to think for ourselves."
A beautiful victory for the integrity of the U.S. Constitution and our individual rights and freedoms. Control freaks against freedom be damned.
